There are several different types of alimony pursuant to Florida law: bridge- the-gap, rehabilitative, durational, lump sum and permanent. An award of alimony is based on the factors set forth in Florida Statute 61.08 taking into consideration the length of the marriage and the financial positions of the parties in relation to one another.

During Mediation, the parties will examine whether either party is a candidate for alimony. If they determine that alimony is appropriate the parties will then move on to discuss the length of time and the monthly alimony amount agreeable to both of them.
